Scams to Avoid When Remodeling

Thinking of remodeling your home? If so, read this article about common scams to avoid when remodeling according to Redfin. In addition, we highly recommend asking for your Realtor for a list of recommended contractors.  We usually know the best people in town as well as the people you should avoid. We recommend getting estimates from at least 3 contractors and when it comes to pulling permits in the city of Chicago, be prepared to wait and wait and wait.  If you’re doing a major remodel you may be required to have an architect draw up the plans, which should cost less than $2,000 depending on the scope of the project.  From start to finish the process of having plans drawn up and pulling permits takes about 2-3 months, before construction can begin.
